Hi, I’m Duane. I am a 5th Generation direct descendant of the Yakama Nation and 1855 treaty signer, Chief Owhi.

The distinctive flora that makes the Pacific Northwest unlike any place in the world, must have been stunning in 1855. I believe the land we occupy can be beneficial to local pollinators, birds, butterflies and wildlife that have evolved to thrive with our local plants.

“There’s a void for Indigenous people to fill in this field, as historical stewards of this land.”

“Lane’s business—geared toward homeowners or small nonprofits, in addition to design and installation services—focuses on growing containerized plants native to the west side of the Cascades from Washington to California, especially plants that are traditional Indigenous ‘first foods,’ pollinator plants, or useful for urban restoration or rain gardens.”
